Chord Chart Site Builder

Build your weekly set and share one link with the team. Everyone gets the right key, a capo option if they need it, and a no-chords view for vocalists. Personal notes, guitar tab, and your own spoken-word pages (readings, prayers, what you'll say between songs) stay private on each person's own device — never in the shared link. Only your songs, nothing else, and it's completely free.

1. Your church

These show on your site and on your team's home screens.

2. Your songs

Add chord charts in ChordPro format (.cho, .pro, .chordpro), for example from SongSelect Premium's ChordPro download. Plain-text charts with chords above the words (.txt) are converted automatically.

3. Build your site

Preview it first if you like, then download it. The download is a zip containing your website folder, your song files (keep these; they're your master copy) and step-by-step instructions.

4. Put it online (free, with Netlify)

Your site is a folder of files. Any web host that serves files over HTTPS will do; these steps use Netlify's free plan.

  1. Unzip the download. On Windows, right-click it and choose Extract All. On a Mac, double-click it.
  2. Create a free Netlify account at app.netlify.com/signup, using a church email address (e.g. worship@yourchurch.org), not a personal one, so the site isn't lost when a volunteer moves on.
  3. Go to app.netlify.com/drop while logged in, and drag in the folder named yourchurch-site. Drag the folder itself, not the zip, and not the songs folder.
  4. When it says Published, open your project. If it shows a Private label, click Make public and choose to make it public. Otherwise your team will see a login page.
  5. Open the …netlify.app link it gives you. That's your site. Share it with your team, and ask them to add it to their home screen (the ? Help button on the site explains how for each device).
Is it private? Search engines are told not to list it, but anyone with the link can open it. Netlify's random site address is hard to guess. If you need a login, Netlify's password protection is a paid feature.

5. Updating later

  1. Come back to this page and use ↻ Import a previous build with your last zip, or carry on if this browser still shows your songs.
  2. Add, fix or remove songs, then ⬇ Download my site again.
  3. In Netlify, open your existing project, go to Deploys, and drag the new yourchurch-site folder onto the drop area there.
Don't create a new site for updates. A new site gets a new address, which breaks your team's home-screen icons and any shared set lists. Always drop updates onto the same project.

Want this builder on your own computer? Download it. It works the same when opened from your computer, with no internet needed for building.
